Havant Youth Creatives

When I returned to business in 2018 after lecturing for 10 years (solo Mumma duties required a change of direction) I thoroughly expected to return to a senior position and make strides in the growth of a business organisation. But, I could see an opportunity to use my skills for networking, creating business clinics and supporting business growth for others. I set those ideas up in Hampshire, Dorset and Surrey. The rest is history with hundreds of companies benefitting in some way shape or form from my experiences.

Pulling business and education together, supporting young people and working on the DfE skills project has been a key part of the past 20+ years with some great successes. In addition:

* I worked on a Government initiative with young people from challenging backgrounds called PROJECT. I wrote this programme curriculum to enable young people to set up a charity event. They had to plan, create collateral, gain raffle prizes from local businesses and deliver an event for elderly people at a college in Somerset. It was challenging and difficult, but successful over 12 weeks, with a positive outcome for all 9 students.
* With a personal financial contribution, I supported a youth project called Tees & Coffee. Ordnance Survey bought 200 units for their office in Southampton. My contribution was through the Hampshire and IOW Young Enterprise programme. The group went on to the regional finals with their idea. I attended to support. You can find this business on Instagram as @teesandcoffee, with an Urban clothing range added too.
*  Recently as Dragon for Bournemouth Uni and Barclays considering a young enterprise programme.
*  Dragon for Winchester University with the Marketing student pitches, giving specialist support for their ideas and creating innovative ideas. Thank you Steven for the opportunity.

...and something that I am proud to say is that in education, I turned failing courses from 47% to 97% success in 2 years - and took all of my students through a new exam with 100% success over two colleges. How? I put it down to treating all the students aged 16 to 56 as their own business. What did they need to succeed and whilst time was tight, tutoring people to success is similar to mentoring your businesses. If you give people the tools to do the job they love, then great things are created.

So when Hannah Haynes approached Aspire4BusinessAcademy to run a Youth Creatives session - there was only one answer. A big YES.

So starting Tuesday 12th August, we will be giving THREE young people the tools to create their businesses! We have wood carving, tattoo art, photography and prints. They will be showcasing their work at the Havant Fayre in September. Funded by The Guiness Partnership, Managed by Empower You and commissioned by Havant Borough Council, we will deliver the course over two sessions and plenty of mentoring.

Passion is at the heart of all the programmes we run at Aspire4BusinessAcademy
